Draft pending review by California counsel

Effective November 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of CalCompGuide ("we," "us") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information, and the rights California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"). It also serves as our notice at collection.

Who we are

CalCompGuide publishes free information about California workers' compensation and is an attorney advertising service. We are not a law firm and not a lawyer referral service. Participating attorneys pay to advertise. Contact: admin@calcompguide.com.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers or third-party analytics tags on this site today. We count page views ourselves, without cookies, and we skip counting when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy first.

How we use personal information

  • To receive and store your case review request and match it with a participating California workers' compensation attorney who covers your county.
  • To send you a copy of your request if you gave an email, and to answer your questions or privacy requests.
  • To keep records proving your consent to be contacted, and to prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
  • To comply with law and protect our rights.

We use sensitive personal information only to provide the service you request and as the CCPA otherwise permits; we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.

When we share it

  • Participating attorneys. When a participating attorney covers your county, we send your request only to that attorney, relying on the consent you gave in the form. Participating attorneys pay us to advertise, so this disclosure may be considered a "sale" of personal information under the CCPA. Until a participating attorney covers your county, your request is stored securely and is not shared with anyone.
  • Service providers that host the site and our systems, send email, and help secure the site, under contracts that limit their use of the information.
  • Legal reasons, such as complying with a subpoena or protecting safety, and in connection with a merger or sale of the business, subject to this policy.

We do not sell or share personal information of consumers we know are under 16.

Retention

We keep case review requests and consent records for up to five years after submission to document consent and comply with legal obligations, unless you ask us to delete them and no legal exception applies. Page-view counts are kept in aggregate.

Your California privacy rights

  • Know/access the personal information we collected about you and how we used and disclosed it.
  • Delete personal information we collected from you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
  • Non-discrimination: we won't treat you differently for using these rights.

To make a request, use our privacy request form or email admin@calcompguide.com. We'll confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days (we may extend once by 45 days with notice). We'll verify your identity by matching information you give us with our records. An authorized agent may submit a request with your signed permission. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser.

Texts and calls

If you check the consent box, a participating attorney may contact you by phone, text or email. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Reply STOP to a text to opt out of texts from that sender, and you can withdraw your consent with us at any time through the privacy request form.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest for stored requests and restricted access. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes and contact

We'll post changes here with a new effective date. Questions: admin@calcompguide.com.
