About CalCompGuide

CalCompGuide is a free, plain-English guide to California workers' compensation for injured workers and their families, with a directory of attorneys drawn from public State Bar records.

What we do

• Explain how California workers' comp works, from reporting an injury to settling a case.
• Walk through the official DWC forms and link to the current versions.
• Offer simple estimators that show their math.
• List attorneys who report a workers' compensation practice to the State Bar, by county.
• Match people who ask with a participating California workers' comp attorney when one covers their county.

Editorial standards

• Primary sources first. Every guide is written from the California Labor Code, DWC regulations (California Code of Regulations, title 8), official DWC fact sheets and Information & Assistance guides, and DWC rate tables. Each guide lists its sources with links.
• Answer first. Each guide opens with a short answer, then the details.
• Dated and reviewed for changes. Each page shows when it was last updated. Benefit rates are checked against the DWC's published tables at least every January and July, when rates change.
• No promises. We don't promise results, rank attorneys, or publish testimonials.
• Review. Guides are written and checked by the CalCompGuide editorial team. We plan to add review by a licensed California attorney and will name the reviewer on each page when that happens. Until then, nothing on this site has been reviewed by an attorney.
• Corrections. If you find an error, email admin@calcompguide.com. We fix confirmed errors promptly and update the date.

How we make money

CalCompGuide is attorney advertising. Participating attorneys pay an advertising fee; the fee doesn't depend on whether anyone hires them or on case results. Advertising never changes what our guides say. See the disclaimer.

Directory data

From public State Bar of California records; lists attorneys who list workers' compensation as a practice area, which can include defense attorneys; not an endorsement; listed attorneys are not necessarily participating advertisers. To correct or remove a listing, email admin@calcompguide.com.
